Phenomena and Principles: Presenting Quantum Physics in a High School Curriculum

The goal of teaching quantum physics (QP) in high school is a problematic and highly turbulent area divergent views, curricula studies, claims. innovative curricular approach discipline-culture (DC) suggests way overcoming its significant difficulties. It presenting QP as fundamental theory structured terms the nucleus, body, periphery. Applying this perspective our study, we interviewed nine experts with respect to their view how nucleus should be presented high-school students. With different viewpoints core essentials hand, compiled QP. We also examined subject using introductory university textbooks that might suit students considered coherence suitability regard specified nucleus. found some confusion regarding status theoretical items: principles, perceived eyes experts, are phenomena. Not only does mismatch represent special barrier for both teachers understand QP, it promotes an inadequate image well distorted nature science. Finally, offer framework DC-based curriculum free noted deficiencies.
